PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Speciality Course

Course Overview

The course takes the form of a Monday night theory session plus two practical development sessions and 2 open water dives.

The objective of the course is to provide divers with the skills and knowledge to safely plan and make Enriched Air (Nitrox) Dives to recreational depths and using blends of Nitrox with less than 40% Oxygen.

Pre course activity

All students are required to have read the PADI Enriched Air Diver Manual and will have watched the associated Video/DVD. Aquamarine SAA does not hold club copies for loaning out. Individual copies can be purchased from the Club Treasurer or are available from PADI retailers.

All divers are required to have handed completed knowledge reviews to the Speciality Instructor at least 1 week before the course date.

What will I need to do the course?

  • PADI Enriched Air Diver Manual
  • PADI Enriched Air Diving Video of DVD
  • DSAT Equivalent Air Depth Table
  • DSAT Oxygen Exposure Table
  • RDP
  • Enriched Air Recreational Dive Planners for EANx32 and EANx36

All of which can be purchased via the Treasurer.

  • Normal diving equipment
  • Access to an Oxygen Clean Tank - the club does not have any!
  • Access to an Oxygen analyser - one between the group will be sufficient

Optional

  • Calculator
  • Dive Computer capable of being used with Nitrox.

Theory Evening

Dive Site Day

  • Further Knowledge development
  • Practical application exercise 1 - introduces the student diver to analysing enriched air Nitrox, confirming cylinder markings and setting enriched air computers.
  • Practical application exercise 2 - the process of obtaining enriched air from a blending facility and directly observing how operations blend enriched air Nitrox.
  • Training Dive 1
  • Training Dive 2
  • Comprehensive debrief

A Speciality Course Fee is applicable – see the training costs page on this site.

In addition students will be responsible for all travel and dive site costs as well as costs for materials.

A maximum of 6 places are available and a minimum of four people are needed to run the course.
